Our Owner
Hana Gallmeyer, the heart and soul of KungBrew Café, shares a heritage story that is both vibrant and charming, much like her establishment.
As an Okinawan, Hana's life is deeply enriched by the traditions passed down from her grandmother. She is also acutely aware of the struggles her mother faced while migrating from Okinawa to the U.S. at the age of six. Growing up as a second-generation Okinawan American, Hana has dedicated over a decade to mastering Asian tea brewing techniques, preserving her cultural roots.
Together with twelve of experience managing restaurants, she opened KungBrew to celebrate her heritage and create a community for Covington tea and brewing arts enthusiasts.
Our Tea Ceremonies
At KungBrew, we specialize in the traditional art of Asian tea brewing. Our tea ceremonies, which draw inspiration from Okinawa, Taiwan, and mainland China, are heartfelt expressions of respect, gratitude, and connection. Our specially designed tea table, crafted from solid wood and featuring a metal drain for tea water, is ideal for the Gongfu tea ceremony style.

Guests are invited to immerse themselves in this cultural experience in our dedicated tea room, where authentic hospitality and ritual come to life. Surrounded by a serene Zen-inspired setting and antique décor, the delicate aroma of freshly brewed tea enhances a transcendent journey through Asian tradition, conversation, and mindfulness.

Our Space
Located in a historic house on Main Street in Covington’s ManStrasse Village, our café honors the original architecture while gently introducing our own identity through a majestic dragon mural. Inside, the ground floor features a breathtaking mural by Adam Lusso, capturing the tranquility of Asian landscapes alongside the twelve zodiac animals. Upstairs, guests can discover our specialty tea room and traditional low-floor seating for an immersive experience. Every corner of our café is filled with antique furnishings and décor, each piece carrying its own unique story and cultural charm.
Visitors are invited to unwind in our thoughtfully curated space, enjoying our artisanal tea offerings while escaping the demands of daily life. Feel free to chat with our owner or staff about the stories behind our artwork, the artists, and the origins of our antique furnishings. Our specialty tea room also hosts tea ceremony events open to all who appreciate the beauty of tea culture and the warmth of Asian hospitality.
